The Elk Hair Caddis was first tied by Montana trout guide Al Troth which mimics a whole range of caddis flies with it's wing profile. It quickly became a very popular dry fly used in big western rivers as the elk hair for the wing creates a very buoyant fly. This fly is great in summer and fall months and can be used with the different body color variations to match specific hatches.
